A New Revival

When I first signed up for this trip, I have been told that I’m going to see amazing things happen.  When you sign up for a 9 month long mission trip, that is probably going to be one of the first things on your mind: “I’m going to see wonders”.  This has been true.  These past 2 months, God has shown me unbelievable things.  However, Jesus has really been putting this on my heart, you don’t have to sign up for an overseas mission trip or any mission trip to see wonders.

This past week, I have been pretty sick with an intense cold.  However, through out this week, I kept asking Jesus that when I get back into ministry that I want to see something big happen.  We just got to a new place and have a lot of excitement, and we know that The Lord is doing wonders here and I want to see some of the big things that are happening.  However, inside I wasn’t having anything big happen.  One day, I sat down and said “Jesus, I really want to see something big happen here while we are working.”  However, God gave me this reply: “Jess, if you want to see something big happen, then something big has to happen in you.”  Jesus was saying that if a revival is going to happen, then a revival is going to have to happen to me.
This just doesn’t apply to missionaries in third world countries, but this applies to everyone.  If you are wanting to see a new revival, then a revival has to happen to you.  What has been on your heart?  What breaks your heart when you hear or see something?  What really gets you mad?  Is it injustice, poverty, human trafficking?
At Gracie’s, we were told us that when Christ was at the rock before He was betrayed by Judas, crying out to God, that His heart broke.  We were his passion, so He got up and carried His cross to deliver us.  Christ had a revival in Him, and carried his passion out.  What is making your heart break?  But the thing is that it doesn’t have to be something big.  Honestly, it could be for a hobo on the street, and all it would take would be taking time and pursuing your passion and loving him.  When I was at Gracie’s, my heart broke a girl named Maria.  By the middle of my time with her, I was able to see her being baptized.  I don’t know what’s going to happen to Maria, but I know that because of the revival I had for her, she is in God’s arms.
So I’m going to leave you with this:  What’s making your heart break?  How can a big God use a small person to fix that?
