The day I danced with a Hobo

This past Sunday was our day off, and we went down to valley of the angels.  Valley of the Angels is a little more of a tourist area than where I have been living this past month.  My team and I walked around for most of the day, and then ended up at a park with loud music and a random guy dancing.  We decided that we wanted to dance, and just have a good time.  So we got up, and started dancing.  I don't know if it was 4 white American girls dancing, or people wanting to see what was going on, but with in 10 minutes, we had drawn a huge crowd of people.  I looked over at the random man dancing and felt Jesus say to go dance with him.  At first, I was hesitant.  I wasn't too sure about dancing with a strange man, but I decided to go.  I offered my hand to him, and there was so much joy in his eyes.  So we danced.  We jumped around the stage for about 10 minutes.  Jesus then said to go invite other people to join and dance.  I shot this idea towards my team mates, and we decided it sounded fun.  So we went into the crowd and tried grabbing random people.  I can't even begin to tell you how many "no's" we got, until we walked over to a group of kids who were super excited to join 4 white girls.  We danced with them for a long time, trying to get other people to come in and join.  None of the adults were super excited about it, until we finally persuaded this one lady.  She probably was at least 110 years old.  Then people slowly started saying yes as we kept asking and having fun.  After 45 minutes of trying, we finally had an awesome dance party going on.  And of course, we had to go back to the bus to head back home.  We gathered our stuff and walked away.  There were so many disappointed faces as we walked away.  Even my hobo asked me to dance again (after dancing at least 4 times together), but I had to say no.  As soon as we walked away, we saw the dance party end.

If it wasn't for us wanting to enjoy our time, those people probably wouldn't have stopped to look at us (even though people here do that on a regular basis…you get used to it).  Those people wouldn't have danced to the techno going on, and we were convinced that we made those kids day 10 times better. Yes, we did step out of our comforts zone.  I'm not too comfortable going up to some strange hobo asking him if he wants to dance.  He may be fine with it, but I sure am not!  But if I didn't listen to Jesus asking me to do that, none of that would have happened.
How is Jesus asking you to step out of your comfort zone?
