Before I came on Passport Immersion, I never really looked for beauty.  Yeah, there are always those breath taking sunsets, and that beautiful mountain view you can get.  I never really opened my eyes up to beautiful moments that we can so easily find.
This past week was our first "official" week of ministry.  The first two days my team and I had "house duty".  It was our job to watch the babies, toddlers, and special needs children, and also clean and cook.  I had two opportunities to watch the babies and take care of the special needs girls.  There are 2 special needs girls: Evanya, who is 8, and Erica, who is 12.  These 2 girls are very special needs.  They act just like a nine month baby.  The first day I watched my team leader, Darla, take care of them, and it freaked me out.  There was no way I was comfortable changing a 12 year old's diaper and feeding both of them baby food.  The morning I was supposed to take care of them, Jesus showed me 1 Corinthians 13.  He talked to me about love.  We all know that love is patient and love is kind.  Darla then told me to put my name.  Jess is patient, Jess is kind…the whole day I kept reminding myself that verse.  After feeding one of the girls, I held the other and played with the other.  I can't remember what I did, but whatever it was, she started laughing super hard.  Remember when you are watching that breath taking sunset and all you can say is "wow"?  That's exactly what happened.  I was holding a precious and beautiful 12 year old in my arms.  I was holding God's creation and seeing his beauty and joy.  Talk about breath taking.
Another beautiful moment was when we all were worshiping together, and two Honduran women come in to see what's going on and why 30 people are gathering together to sing.  God told me to go over and place my hands on them, so I listened.  I then started to pray and the next thing I know, I am holding a woman as she is sobbing and crying to Jesus.  I didn't understand what she was saying, but I knew that my God had met these women, and as they walked in the room they felt Jesus right away.  They were able to meet him in one of those ways where he just yanks your heart and you're able to have a powerful meeting with him.  I was able to hold a woman as she met my Savior.  Talk about beautiful and breath taking.
These past couple of weeks have been so amazing!  God has been doing amazing things, and he has been showing me beauty in ways that I couldn't even imagine.  This next week, how will you find beauty in a new way?  Please continue to pray for us as we continue our ministry at Christ's Heart Ministry.
